Something rather different this time
This is a 9-minute yoga nidra video featuring the bird song that I recorded in the woods near my house. These are the same words that Mr Wolf Chubaca Pants and I spent countless hours walking and contemplating. I have been using yoga Nidra mainly as a means to help my sleep patterns for years now and more recently I have thought perhaps it's time for me to give back a little by trying to share some of the precious gifts of nature with you in the hope that this little video might help you as much as other people's videos and sounds have held to me. You may use it as a break from really hard writing work or as a power nap or as a guided sleep meditation.. #yoganidra #nidra #meditation #sleep #sleephelp #birds #woods #birdsong #phdbreak #chillfromPhD #phd #doctorate #sleepmeditation This is my very first attempt at such a thing so any comments and -or pointers are welcomed, (i think I may be too fast at parts) I am not even sure I have done a semi-decent job with this as I can't use it for myself...listening to one's own voice can be... well... not great for meditating... ******** from: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/what-is-yoga-nidra How yoga nidra differs from meditation Yoga Nidra involves slowing down and chilling out. So does meditation. While some people tend to lump them together, they really are two different practices. “Yoga Nidra is like meditation, but yet it’s not,” says yoga therapist and yoga program manager, Judi Bar. “There are overlaps, but there also are key differences. With yoga nidra, you are lying down and the goal is to move into a deep state of conscious awareness sleep, which is a deeper state of relaxation with awareness. This state involves moving from consciousness while awake to dreaming and then to not-dreaming while remaining awake — going past the unconscious to the conscious.” Bar says that this practice is guided like some meditation practices, but it’s very structured. “With meditation, you’re sitting and in a waking state of consciousness while focusing the mind and allowing thoughts to come and go. Meditation makes it possible for us to get to the theta state — the state we go through to get to the delta state, which is the place of the deepest sleep cycle. The delta state is a deep healing state. That’s where we’re trying to get through yoga nidra. In this state, the body and mind rest and the consciousness is awake.” from: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/what-is-yoga-nidra
