A petition to create a Minister for Hospitality has reached over 169,000 and will be debated in parliament on the 11th January 2021. I do not have to stress the importance of our hospitality industry. Hospitality is a major contributor to the UK economy, employing over 3 million people and generating £130bn in economic activity, while paying £38bn in taxation to fund important local and national services (see UKhospitality reports and this KPMG report https://bit.ly/2KvMV2C ). Hospitality is the 3rd largest private sector employer in the UK; double the size of financial services and bigger than automotive, pharmaceuticals and aerospace combined. I hope to count on your support FOR the motion to ensure that the livelihoods of millions of people are finally properly considered and championed at government level by a minister who has a real focus for this industry that features a multitude of sub sectors.
