Hospitality Management Field Trip (MSc and BA International Hospitality Management students)

Students from the Hospitality Imagineering module of the MSc International Hospitality Management course joined Dr Ioannis S Pantelidis and Students from the BA (Hons) International Hospitality Management course for a field trip in London.  The group enjoyed the hospitality of Adam Rowledge General Manager of the Georgian House Hotel. A unique boutique hotel ten minute walk from Victoria  Station that features the smallest cinema in London and a hidden entrance towards their wizardly themed rooms of the lower floor.

After the first hotel the team made their way to the Shangri-La at the Shard,  where we were hosted by Kieran Roberts the Executive Manager in charge of the Rooms Division.  Shangri-La at the Shard is occupying floors 34th to 52nd of the Shard (designed by Renzo Piano) a 5 star hotel with floor to ceiling windows that provide breath-taking 360 degree views in all of its floors, the infinity pool at floor 52 delivers an even more impressive image and the Gong Bar concludes the luxurious elegance of the hotel.

Dr Pantelidis and his students concluded the day at London’s Borough Market

“An amazing experience, to see two hotels with such distinct character in one day and to get the chance to talk to the Master students studying in the same field. This trip is something that I will fondly remember, when I look back at my year at the University of Brighton”

Adam Rowledge certainly made an impression to students who  said:

Thank you for organising last Friday's field trip which turned out to be very informative and a fantastic day out. For me it proved to be a great insight into London's hospitality landscape, in particular how "traditional chic" and "contemporary sophistication" hotel styles coexist so harmoniously in  a city as cosmopolitan as London.  The General Manager of the Georgian House Hotel was really generous with his time and hospitality and his  experience and advice shared,  further reassured me of the great career possibilities ahead after graduation.
Maria Almeida , MSc International Hospitality Management Class of ’17

"I had a fantastic day, it has always been a bucket-list item for me to go and see the Shangri-La at the Shard.  At the Georgian House Hotel, we met Adam, who may hopefully  be my future mentor through the Springboard Gems program.  He is a brilliant man and it really is inspiring to know that there are individuals out there willing to work with and help students grow in their careers”.
