Well... I have been trying for weeks now to find a sunny day for my students to test their solar cooker designs. Friday the 13th looked optimistic enough in terms of forecast but by wednesday it looked not os promising.
Due to high winds and possible rain I postponed the contest yet again. At about 10am there was a bit of Sun and I decided to test little BoB against a malteser. Here to the right is the picture of the poor victim going in at 10:04am.
I left the malteser in "Little BoB" for approximately 10 minutes
At which point we reached well over 100 degrees within the cooking area of the solar cooker.
Sooner before you could say - melted malteser the Sun went on hiding!
Nevertheless within 10 minutes the malteser was a Melt-easer (see what i did there? ho ho ho)
And for all the doubting Thomases here is a short video showing the temperatures outside versus inside the solar cooker:
By the time I finished writing this blog post (at 10:39am) the weather turned miserable and it is currently raining... so Friday the 13th did keep true to its name so I am glad we postponed the experiments after all...
