When was the last time you met a great leader?
No, not the kind that was born not made… the kind that is willing to take risks for their team, the kind that has such a vision you are willing to drop everything else and follow them to a quest.
I met such a person once but at the wrong time, and he moved on to better things and I was left with less inspiring leaders…
Less inspiring not because they didn’t care but because they were simply worn out, and they were worn out because they weren’t that great.
They weren’t that great because they did not believe in their team, they wanted their team to build palaces whilst they took away from them the shovels.
They weren’t that great because they didn’t trust us enough. And they didn’t trust us enough because their emotional intelligence was well…not intelligent enough.
And because they had no emotional intelligence we stopped trusting in them.
And as we had no leaders we turned to robots aiding other robots until the time arrived and some of us escaped.
But although we escaped the machine world, we never regained our confidence and trust in leaders.
And so we stopped looking for leaders and simply found happiness in work, leading ourselves and been all the better for it. Until the time arrived that we were called to lead and we were determined to not make the same mistakes.
Because great leaders are not born, great leaders are made by the absence of great leaders… but only if they escape the machine world!
