Lets imagine that a hotel or restaurant
owner only has one hour per day to invest and experiment with web 2.0
marketing. I am assuming you have set a clear strategy of what message you wish to communicate. Here are two ideas of how to effectively enter the social media marketing
race.
Day one: Tweeter 10 minutes per day (3 tweets per day plus
responses)
Day two: Review sites monitoring &
responding 5 minutes per day
Day 30: Facebook 10 minutes per day
Day 60: LinkedIN 10 minutes per day
Day 90: Google+ 10 minutes per day
Day 120:
Blog 5 minutes per day
Day 150: Youtube 10 minutes per day
(50minutes per week all you need is 1 short video per week)
By day 150 you will have 1 hour dedicated
to social media activity per day and by then you will know what works best for
you and how you wish to adjust minutes per week to focus on the application
that shows more promise for your business.
Alternative
strategy
Day one: Tweeter 20 minutes per day
Day two: Review sites monitoring &
responding 5 minutes per day
Day 30:
Blog 15 minutes per day
Day 60: Youtube 10 minutes per day
Day 90: Alternate 10mins every 3 days on
FB, Google+ & LinkedIn
Of course the Key is WHAT you do in the 5-10-15 minutes, do
not expect to be an expert from day one that’s why a staggered approach will
give you more confidence with web 2.0.
Whatever you do at day 150 with either strategy you should be
monitoring the results of your efforts.
Again there are ways of monitoring Key Performance indicators and
techniques you can utilize and hundreds of blogposts that give you ideas…
Now I did not count the time you ll have to
spend in the early days researching and understanding social media did I? If you do that right, it will be part of your
entertainment and thus it won’t feel like a job. Just reduce the amount of TV you watch and be
disciplined… be careful not to get addicted though, some people ended up
reducing their sleep….
Good Luck!
