With only a few days left till the Hospitality Sustainability Colloquium in London (the link will take you to hotcatuk.com where we have allocated an extra 25 tickets for anyone else that is not a student but may still want to join the event, so far we have 60 confirmed students and 20 Professionals attending) I thought I would share with you the results of an exercise some of my hospitality students conducted.
This was a mini exercise with very limited time and it started with the simple question of how many hotels claim to be the most sustainable hotels in the world. Within minutes of basic researching students identified numerous articles claiming that this hotel or that hotel is the most sustainable, the exercise continued and students added links to articles that talked about the most sustainable restaurant in the world and then expanded to most green-washing hotels and restaurants....
The results of this (1hr) exercise can be seen in this prezi but the conclusion was that sometimes (perhaps too many times) what we read is not always the reality... enjoy the Prezi, and please consider what you could do to make your business even more sustainable than it currently is.
